Application Process

The process has two main components:

Application - Must be completed and all information submitted by the deadlines noted below.
Interview - Interviews are required of all applicants.

Application Deadlines

Your application must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CST on the day of the deadline in order to be considered for an application round. This includes receipt of all online and mailed-in materials. Applications submitted after a deadline will not be considered for that quarter.

Decisions are made on a rolling basis and are communicated via the U.S. mail.

Application Checklist

Your application will consist of the following items:

completed application with required personal background
completed essays
professional résumé
two letters of recommendation
transcripts from all post-secondary educational institutions from which you have earned a degree, either official documents or a self-reported transcript
GMAT score
TOEFL or IELTS scores (International Applicants only)
application fee of $175

Submitting your Application

Submitting an application and materials can be done online or via mail. It is highly recommended that you use our online application system.

Applying Online - The online system includes step-by-step instructions for completing the application online, including the process for submitting transcripts, essays and letters of recommendation. You may make changes and edits to an application at any time prior to submission. Registration and creation of a username and password are required to begin the online application. You can also download the application for informational purposes.
Applying by Mail - To apply by mail, you will need to visit the online application system and download the application. The form contains detailed instructions on how to submit the application and all supporting material.

Even if you prefer to apply by mail, we strongly suggest that you still register through our online application system. This will allow you to stay informed about events and the application process.

Admissions Interview

Interviews are required of all applicants to the Evening MBA and Weekend MBA Programs. Admissions interviews are conducted by the Admissions Committee, comprised of GSB staff, students, and alumni, and are held at Gleacher Center, our downtown campus. All interviews, regardless of who conducts them, receive equal weight in the evaluation process.

As a reminder, your interview must be completed before the deadline for which you plan to submit your application. Our office will contact you to schedule an interview once your application has been received.

Applying to Special Programs

The International MBA, Dual Professional Degrees and all Joint Degree programs require a special application process. Please refer to the relevant program for specific information.
