International Joint Degrees

The MBA and MA in International Relations degree allows students to complement their business education with the study of the role of ideas, interests, and power in shaping international relations.

Students take theoretical and interdisciplinary courses in international relations and write a master’s thesis tailored to fit their specific interests and career goals. This program requires successful completion of 24 courses, a foreign language reading examination, and an integrated master’s thesis.

LEAD (1 course)
Business Foundations (3 courses)
Business Breadth (4 courses)
General Management (2 courses)
Business Electives (5 courses)

International Relations Course Requirements
Core Curriculum (6 courses)
International Relations distribution requirements are designed to insure that each student achieves sufficient depth and breadth of study. Students must take two courses each in three of the four following sub-fields:

  • International Relations Theory and International History
  • International Political Economy and Development;
  • Regional Studies and Nationalism; and
  • International Law, Human Rights, and Environmental Studies.

International Relations Electives (3 courses)
Students choose one additional international relations course and two electives. Electives may be chosen from a wide range of options in the social sciences, humanities, public policy, and law. This wide range of choices allows students to develop knowledge and skills specifically relevant to their career.
