MBA and Master’s in Area Studies

Expanding on The Chicago Approach, which creates a sophisticated analytical framework for analyzing business, the Chicago GSB offers an international joint degree program in area studies. Students can enhance their knowledge of and expertise in a specific geographic area, including East Asia, East Europe/Russia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, or South Asia.

The Joint MBA/MA Program is ideal for students planning a career requiring both a complete set of international business skills and thorough knowledge of international issues, cultures, or regions. Requirements include mastery of a regional language and a master’s thesis. Programs take two and one-half to three years to complete, depending on the MA discipline, foreign language sequence placement, and length of time necessary to complete the required master’s thesis.
