The GSB offers students and alumni the resources you need to stay on top of professional development and career management. Career Services has what it takes to help you position yourself for greater responsibility; change careers or industries; or grow in your current role.
Skills and Planning Resources
You'll have access to educational programming, individualized one-on-one coaching and outstanding job search tools.
- CareerCast - This online, audio recording series allows you to hear experts discuss a variety of career development topics including making an industry or function change, managing employees or taking the entrepreneurial plunge.
- Self-assessment tools - Career Services offers a battery of tools to help you define and clarify values, interests, goals, abilities and styles.The more you know about yourself, the more confidently you can present yourself.
- Community Directory - You can search the Community Directory to find a colleague and gain industry information, locate a contact at a company you are targeting, or identify a peer with whom you can discuss a career transition.
- Workshops and panels on career management - Career Services sponsors events where you can gain tips on how to interview effectively; improve your networking skills; investigate industries and job functions; position your experiences and develop your marketing message; write resumes and cover letters; and negotiate a salary.
- Individualized one-on-one coaching - If you are encountering specific challenges in your job search or your current position, you can take advantage of coaching (in person or by telephone). A coach can assist with developing a job search strategy, understanding a job function or preparing for an important interview and negotiating offers.
Career Development Resources
Information is key to a successful job search.The GSB has several ways to make sure you have all the information you need to achieve your career goals.
- Fisher Career Resource Center - The center, located at the Gleacher Center, houses job-related resources. Fisher CRC offers access to more than 60 valuable research databases for company and industry information. Electronic resources are augmented by a significant collection of career-related materials in print.
- Employment reports - Reports include class profiles, past GSB hires by function, industry, and location, and major employers and job sources of GSB students from the past five years.
- Resume databases - We archive resumes from previous GSB classes. You can search through the database to find resume examples for all types of jobs and experience and information about full-time students and alumni.
- Career newsletters - We offer a number of timely email newsletters designed to provide you with the latest job postings, provide you with career management tactics and let you know about the latest employer news.
- XP Career Connection - We offer a quarterly email newlsetter designed to provide you with information about upcoming Career Services events, career tips and tools, and resources available to you.
