
In 2004, ARCH Venture Partners established the New Business Incubator to provide facilities and support for winners and finalists of the Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, New Venture Challenge (NVC) business plan competition. Housed witihin the Polsky Center, NVC companies have access to phones, computers, office supplies, a conference room, and Polsky Center team support, to develop their fledgling businesses.
ARCH Venture Partners was founded by Chicago Booth alumni Clinton Bybee, '90; advisory board member Keith Crandell, '88; Steven Lazarus; and Robert Nelsen, '87.
2005 NVC winner Karan Goel, '06, grew his company PrepMe in the ARCH New Business Incubator. Today PrepMe, which offers customized tutoring for students preparing for the ACT and SAT, has reached 40,000 students to date, including the entire state of Maine.
Other businesses that have grown in the ARCH Incubator include TixNix, a web-based business that helps people fight traffic tickets, founded by Drew Massie, '04; Hybridtronics, Inc, a company commercializing hybrid electric vehicle technology for trucks and buses in Asia, founded by Anshu Dewan, '06; as well as 2008 NVC co-winner CaptainU and 2008 NVC finalist ReTel Technologies.
