Speaker Profiles

Bob Killian
Creative director, branding consultant, Killian & Associates

Bob Killian "creative director, branding consultant, graphic designer, marketing strategist, mediocre golfer and web designer" has been putting his grab-bag of skills to work in the advertising industry for over thirty years. Since 1987, he has been the ringleader of the bomb-throwing anarchists at Killian & Associates, a Chicago-based strategic branding agency. (If you type 'branding agency' into Google, they come up first. In the world.) Bob is the co-author of the popular "Do-It-Yourself Marketing and Advertising (3rd Edition)," published by Wylie Press. His white papers, featured on the agency's website, won a 2002 'Best Writing on the Web' award, and are taught in a dozen graduate schools of business.

Jennifer Fortney
Owner, Cascade Communications

Jennifer Fortney is owner of Cascade Communications, a boutique public relations and marketing consulting firm focusing on lifestyle consumer products and services, arts and entertainment, startups and woman-owned businesses. With over 13 years experience in PR and marketing, she recently started her seventh year as owner of Cascade Communications.

Jennifer notes that her years working in radio promotions and marketing, which introduced her to a variety of small businesses with diverse needs and goals for communicating to customers, assists her in working with similar companies today. Jennifer has created and implemented unique strategies and achieved a variety of local, regional and national media placements for her clients large and small. Her skillful understanding of the media, and masterful use of words to tell a story has led to placements in Fast Company, Bon Apetit, Shape, The New York Times, USA Today, Marketwatch and the NBC's Today Show, to name a few. Her passion is watching businesses take off and believes that being part of that process is one of the great joys of being in the industry.
